ABOUT THE ACSA CONSUMER ADVOCACY LABORATORY
The Consumer Advocacy Laboratory began as a quality
assurance testing program for companies in the
Personal Computer Industry in 1989, and gradually
migrated through release compliance testing with
products like Linux and Windows, to in 2001, a full
blown Consumer Advocacy Laboratory where companies
could submit themselves, for a fee, to be tested as
to how their methods and measures held up to the
ACSA standards of quality and consumer protection.
ACSA does not warranty nor guarantee that any
company who submits to the Certification Tests will
actually behave in accordance with them. However, if
we record six or more complaints in connection with
any one area, and reasonably believe a company could
have behaved better, we will submit the company to
our review board for suitable disciplinary review
and possible certificate revocation. All
participation in this program is voluntary. We
do not publish revoked certificates. To verify
a company is enrolled and certified, please check
for the ACSA Consumer Advocacy logo at the bottom of
that company's home page, and click the link to
verify the standing. The URL which you are
referred to will begin "http://www.acsa.net/cert/"
followed by letters and numbers that uniquely
identify their certificate number.
In order to be renewed for annual good standing
certification, a company must resubmit to an annual
Retest. The figures above reflect only the
current year's testing, and the highest and lowest
average.
